Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogging Stroller Review

Very good baby stroller for our children

Rating:

By Ellen Hardy New York

We bought the Baby Trend double Expedition jogger around 6 months ago to replace a lightweight stroller that just wasn’t holding up to our two toddlers. We liked the features of this one and especially liked that the price was half of the competition. This is a solid value especially for a jogging stroller.

I would say that the biggest positive about it is the ease of pushing it with both children strapped in. It has larger wheels that track nicely over bumps and other things you encounter. We have used this for hours on end at a time with no problems at all. Even when you aren’t jogging it still runs great.

The locking/unlocking feature is another thing I like. I find that I like to lock the wheels when I feel like going faster and won’t be turning (like when I’m running or fast walking). The storage on these strollers is also a nice surprise as there is more than we had on our other model. It also has two cup holders and the canopy covers them up nicely during the sunny weather.

Here is one thing that I don’t like and the reason that I didn’t give it a perfect rating. The width seems to be just a bit wider than a normal sized door will fit. Sometimes you can muscle it in but sometimes it simply will not make it through the doorway. I have had to not go into certain stores because of the width of the double Expedition. Maybe Baby Trend could look into narrowing it up just a touch.

Overall I recommend this stroller in either the single or double configuration as I feel it ranks up there with the far more expensive jogging strollers, but with a much lower price. We use it often and love taking our kids out in style.

I have found this to be a very easy-going stroller. It’s visor adjusts to several positions, which is great for shading the babies from sun. It doesn’t do all that great against wind or rain, and I was disappointed that they didn’t include the rain shield with the model, even though they make one for it. Nor could I purchase this accessory at the store where they sell this stroller (we get lots of rain and snow, so this would have been a no-brainer decision).

This stroller fits easily on the city bus with the swivel wheel, something other double strollers or bike trailers have a hard time doing.

The problem of fitting it through the door is easy enough to fix. When we were going to the library we noticed the wheels were just a tad too wide, but then I remembered that this stroller comes equipped with Quick Release wheels. Just pop one of them off by pushing on the metal tab near the wheels, supporting the weight with the handle bar, and glide through the door. Then the wheel snaps back in place. It may sound a bit much, but try practising some time without any passengers in the stroller and you will find how easy it is. You still have the front wheel (lock it in place) and a side wheel to support weight, you just have to balance for the other wheel. Anyway, it’s just an option I came up with if you don’t want to give up going to your favourite places simply because of a doorway not being wide enough.

Because of the weather shield not being included or even accessible to purchase in any Canadian stores, I am giving this product a 4 our of 5 rating, then I will return it to the store in search of a stroller that will have proper weather protection for my children.
